Try It Tuesday: The Chaos Walking Trilogy!

Happy World Book Night, Free Hawks! For a special edition of Try It Tuesday I've decided to do one of the books from the list of selected works for World Book Night. The Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness, focusing on The Knife of Never Letting Go.

I have been very lucky to be selected as one of World Book Night's 20,000 UK givers. This means that tonight, I will be going into the streets of London and distributing 20 copies of the wonderful KONLG to non-reading strangers. But that doesn't mean you all shouldn't get a copy yourselves!

'Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee -- whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not -- stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is impossible, something terrible has been hidden -- a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives.

But how do you escape when your pursuers can hear your every thought?'

~(As taken from Goodreads)

I suspect that a large majority of you will already have read this series, or at least have heard of it. This is probably because there's quite a lot of similarities between the CW trilogy and the Dust Lands trilogy. For starters, we have to get used to the phonetic dialect used by the narrators. This gives both Todd and Saba a strong voice. There is also the objects they face in their journeys, which help to build their characters into the strong heroes we know and love.

The Knife of Never Letting Go is a deserving title on the World Book Night list. I've never read anything quite like it, and I'd encourage fans of the Dust Lands to just trust me and give it a try.

Here's me with my box load of books for tonight. I'm very proud to be representing Patrick and his work, and to be able to share it with others!
