Where is the Dust Lands?

The trilogy is named after it's setting. It's where Saba's blood red road runs and where her rebel heart beats. And yet we don't actually know where 'there' is.

So where do you envision Saba and her friends, and foes, walking? Where in the world could possibly be so affected by climate change and human transgressions that it could quite literally become a dust land? You tell us!

Many novels will have an explicit setting, but this is something usually not revealed in dystopian or post apocalyptic novels because we have to realise that the landscape of the world has changed. Countries have gone; new communities thrive. People move and set up somewhere that they re-identify  Or perhaps, because the narrator is unaware of where they are, so too must be the reader.

Saba's world is known simply as the Dust Lands, and whilst there are named locations such as Crosscreek and Hopetown, they lack detail of their exact whereabouts on the world map.

So the question is, where, if anywhere on this world, do you see the Saba's story taking place? Vote at the link and let us know why!
